Metal Roof Panel Calculation
Linear ft = Roof area ÷ (Panel width ÷ 12)
Coverage width in feet
Panels = Linear ft ÷ Panel length (order custom lengths)
Panels are cut to roof length
Ridge cap ≈ √(Area) × 4 × 1.1
Perimeter estimate with waste
Metal panels are typically ordered in custom lengths to match your roof dimensions. The calculator estimates panel count based on coverage width. Standing seam uses concealed clips; corrugated and exposed fastener use screws every 12-24 inches.

Frequently Asked Questions
Metal panels have a coverage width (exposed area after overlap) and are ordered in custom lengths to match your roof. A 16" panel covers 16" per panel; divide roof width by coverage to get panel count.
Metal typically needs 5-15% waste. Use 10% for simple roofs, 15% for complex hips/valleys. Standing seam has less waste than exposed fastener due to overlap design.
